Like a frog in a well
Don't let the imaginary ceilings of your past dictate the heights you can reach in your future.
When frogs are stuck in an enclosed space, they adapt.
The height of its jump is now equal to the space's height.
It now believes that it can't jump higher—otherwise, it'll hit the ceiling.
When I was in my first job, I thought that was it. Forever, I'll be one of the henchmen because I know that there are many people smarter than me, more experienced than me, and better than me in many ways. So, I'll be forever behind.
The company was my well, and the people were the ceiling.
Once I left, I realised that the well was made up. There are no limits of how high I can jump. How far I can run. And that I am no longer shackled by a mere ceiling. I am free.
I used to cringe at wise words such as "the sky is the limit," but now I have experienced firsthand that the sky truly is the limit. Often, we see people better, older, and smarter than us and think we'll never be like them.
"If they can't do it, then it is impossible for me to do it."
But I think we often forget to zoom out and see the bigger picture. There was no rule on how far we can go in life. There is nothing that can stop us from overcoming the people we look up to, but our own limiting beliefs.
They all start somewhere
Every person you admire once stood where you are now. They, too, had to overcome doubts, fears, and limitations to reach their current position. Your journey is unique, and your potential is limited only by your imagination and determination.
As you move forward, challenge yourself to dream bigger, reach higher, and push beyond the boundaries of what you once thought possible. The world is vast, opportunities are abundant, and your potential is infinite. Don't let the imaginary ceilings of your past dictate the heights you can reach in your future.
So, take a moment to reflect: What self-imposed limitations are holding you back? What would you attempt if you knew you couldn't fail? It's time to shatter those illusory ceilings and leap into the boundless possibilities that await you.
Remember, the sky isn't just the limit – it's only the beginning.
I hope you find this insightful. Remember:
It's not going to be easy,
but not impossible.
Your friend,
Brian
