It's okay to not have dreams and ambitions
Everyone seems to have a five-year plan. A vision board. A clear direction they are working toward.
And then there is you. Still figuring things out. Just trying to get through the week.
That is okay.
We grew up believing that dreams give life meaning. That, without goals, we are just drifting. That ambition is what moves life forward.
But no one really talks about the pressure of being asked, “What are you working toward?” and not knowing how to answer. No one really talks about not knowing what to do with your life.
A life where you are just living. Waking up. Doing your best. Taking care of what is in front of you.
So let me tell you something worth remembering.
Not having a dream does not mean you are a loser.
You might feel lost. You might still be figuring things out.
But you are not a loser.
Sometimes it means you are resting.
Sometimes it means something ended, and you have not found what comes next.
And sometimes, it simply means you are living without turning your life into a constant project.
Goals can be helpful. Dreams can be meaningful. But they are not the only way to live a good life.
There are seasons where the most important things are small.
A good food that makes you feel good. A walk that cleared your head.
A conversation with a good friend that left you feeling warm.
These moments matter.
You do not need a big direction to justify your existence.
So if you are in a season without a clear goal, without a dream you can point to, you are not falling behind.
You are just here.
And for now, that is enough.
I hope you find this insightful. Remember:
It’s not going to be easy,
But it’s not impossible.
Your friend,
Brian.
